CASE STUDY 1
Prestigious Motor Vehicle Factory, Crewe
Trace Heating Trace Heating & Thermal Insulation
The development of a substantial warehouse unit for called for a swift completion of works to a high standard.
WHAT WE DID
Consultants were seeking a supplier who could provide a single source solution to trace heating and thermal insulation to sprinkler pipe work within and feeding the warehouse facility.
The consultant had previously been let down by a supplier so Power Tech were called into the project at a late date and swift completion was a key criteria to avoid financial penalties and to deliver the contract within the agreed time scale.
We were able to provide sufficient manpower to enable the contract to be finished ahead of schedule and in such a fashion that we have been awarded the order for further developments within this fledgling site.
CASE STUDY 2
Supermarket Cold Storage, Stockton upon Tees
Sprinkler Pump House
Refit of an existing sprinkler system and replacement of motors.
WHAT WE DID
Power Tech were called in at the start of this contract to strip out all of the existing electrical systems in preparation for the replacement of the fire system motors.
Once this was complete we returned to site and reinstalled all wiring within the pump house to control the new diesel and electric motor.
We also installed fan and louvres to disperse fumes once the diesel engine was operational.
From the valves in the pump house signals were picked up and taken firstly to a marshalling box within the pump house before ongoing through the building to a remote alarm panel, provided by ourselves, situated in the gate house.
Once the installation was complete all NICEIC test certification was provided along with O&M manuals for all materials installed.
CASE STUDY 3
Supermarket Cold Storage, Daventry
Heat Retention Boxes
Power Tech were contacted by a new client who was having issues with a system that another contractor had previously installed for them at a site in Daventry.
WHAT WE DID
Following our site survey it was found that a number of the heat retention boxes above the deep freeze area were faulty causing the system to go in to alarm mode and putting at the sprinkler heads at risk of freezing.
We had not been involved in the manufacture of these units before however were able to source a fabricator who was able to develop them for us to a required standard.
In all we replaced 140 heads at this site and now produce these units on a regular basis for maintenance and new installs in deep freeze and chilled areas.
CASE STUDY 4
Supermarket, Kirkaldy Fife
Power Tech carry out UK wide maintenance for a major national supermarket chain which is internationally owned and in this instance we were called to carry out reactive maintenance on their sprinkler system.
WHAT WE DID
Upon attending site it became apparent that the pump house pipe work in the delivery yard had been damaged during a collision with a fork lift truck.
The system required a section of thermal insulation and metal cladding replacing and the integrity of the trace heating was also checked but it was found that the damage was purely superficial and no further works were required.
CASE STUDY 5
Waste to Energy Power Station, Wakefield
Power Tech were contacted as a preferred supplier for a thermal insulation company who had won the major contract to trace heat and insulate all pipe work as required on a new build waste to energy power station.
WHAT WE DID
We were able to provide experienced manpower for this project and overcome issues with differences between planned installation and as built installation
of pipe work.
This project required us to have a supervisor on site at all times to oversee the ongoing installations and attend daily progress meetings to ensure we stuck to strict deadlines and worked to the high standards expected.
This was without doubt the largest project we have undertook and whilst at times it was challenging we feel it has enabled us to grow as a company and has given us the skills to undertake larger projects in the future with greater confidence and reassurance.
